What is new in 2016 Ford Explorer

New Ford Explorer Toronto is now available with a number of changes and upgrades. The 2016 Explorer has a refreshed exterior, revised suspension tuning, advance safety features and a 2.3L EcoBoost inline-4 engine that replaces the 2L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. Advantage of new engine is that it can be paired with AWD.

 

Some of the noteworthy features of the 2016 Explorer are automated parking system that can easily park the SUV in parallel space and also pull the vehicle out of a perpendicular parking. On the interior side, more USB charging ports are provided for charging electronic gadgets also the MyFord Touch system is made more user-friendly with new tactile buttons.

 

Finally there is a new trim Platinum and the new Ford Explorer Toronto boasts of everything Ford can equip its vehicles with. This three-row-crossover has upgraded interior upholstery that adds value to the already high-quality cabin of Explorer. Revised suspension tuning is a perfect match for the V6 engine that drives the Platinum. Together there are five trims that are base, XLT, Limited, Sport and Platinum.

 

Trim level classification

 

Base model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, rearview camera, rear climate control, cruise control, tilt-and-telescoping-steering-wheel, 60/40 split folding second row seat, 50/50 split folding third row seat, six-way power drive seat and 4.2 inch central display with Bluetooth phone and an audio system with a CD player and USB ports.

 

XLT has body colored handles, foglights, eight-way power drive seat, six-way power passenger seat, leather wrapped steering wheel and rear parking sensors. XLT can be customized with Equipment Group 201A package that adds dual-zone climate control, Driver Connect package and a large 8-inch touchscreen display. XLT is also eligible for 202A package that adds leather upholstery, heated front seats and front parking sensors to the 201A package.

 

Limited has 20-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, driver memory settings, power adjustable pedals, power adjustable steering wheel, navigation system and a 12 speaker Sony sound system. It is eligible for 202A package. Limited has one more optional package that is 301A and also buyers have options of standalone packages like Trailer Tow package.

 

Sport model has 20-inch wheels and a sport tuned suspension. It has adaptive cruise control in option. Also you can opt for 401A package that adds many advance features like power adjustable pedals, front view camera and driver memory settings.

 

Platinum has aluminum and wooden interior trim, adaptive cruise control, upgraded leather upholstery and Sony sound system. It also includes 301A package, rear entertainment system and second row captain’s chairs.

 

Engine

 

New Ford Explorer Toronto provides a couple of engine choices. Base, XLT and Limited trims have a 3.5L V6 with 290 hp and 255 pound-feet torque. FWD and 4WD are the options. The 4WD comes with Ford’s Terrain Management System. Optional engine on these trims is a turbocharged 2.3L inline-4 with 270 hp and 300 lb-ft torque. The turbocharged engine is hooked to a six-speed auto transmission and FWD is made standard. AWD is kept in option.

 

Sport and Platinum trims come with a turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine with 365 hp and 350 lb-ft torque. A six-speed auto transmission and 4WD are standard for this engine.
