It is near impossible to not get thrilled about this year’s North American International Auto show held in Detroit, Michigan at the Cobo Center. Industry leaders collected in “Motor City” to showcase their newest and most jaw-dropping, and not to mention surprising cars. Like the new and improved eye candy GT Ford Super car modeled in the spirit of the 24 hour Le Manse Race winner; GT40. Speaking of Eye candy, although the Acura NSX was the most anticipated car prior to the Auto Show debut, it certainly delivered to its built up hype however, the Ford GT quickly stole its thunder. Nonetheless, the Acura NSX stole our hearts just the same. One of the most anticipated Auto Show wouldn’t stand out if it didn’t feature diversity, which it did like the forward thinking Hyundai Santa Cruz crossover truck targeting to a niche audience known as the “Urban Adventure”. Let’s not fail to mention the most talked about Futuristic Mercedes Benz- F015 Concept mainly because it looked like it was right out of a sci-fi movie. It is Mercedes idea of autonomous, driver-less car which can be described as living space on wheels. Despite all the anticipation for speed and luxurious and forward thinking cars Chrysler Fiat has promised one of the best off road compatibility, the Jeep Renegade.

We can begin at the top of our hottest picks of the Detroit’s 2015 Auto Show.

Ford GT

New Ford GT Concept

This beauty is most certainly A-List of the Auto Show; it has left everyone speechless and wanting more. This jaw-dropping supercar is certainly race ready. “It’s worth remembering that our first innovation as a company was not in a laboratory but on a race track,’ said Ford President Mark Fields, referring to the Henry Ford’s win of 1901 race that inspired financial backers to invest in the company. The New Ford GT is certainly a beauty with brains, that being said it’s packed impressively with 3.5 Liter EcoBoost V6 with more than 600 HP. The Twin Turbo Is mid-mounted rather than the front or back for equal weight distribution, and coupled to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox nestled inside a carbon fibre tub. Structural scaffolds are charged to carry components of the car which are made from aluminum and strengthened with carbon fibre panels. The Chassis is covered with the lightweight carbon fibre framing, for improved acceleration. Its teardrop style resembles the 1960 GT Ford which won the 24-hour Le Manse race 4 consecutive years through 1966-1969. The doors that swung upwards are enough to sell to anyone as is the color “liquid blue”, however sources suggest the color may not be the production paint color. 2016 is the 50th year anniversary of the first win for Ford GT40, which is also the release year for the Ford GT.

2016 Acura NSX

2016 Acura NSX Concept

Joining the ranks of luxury supercar is the third generation Acura NSX, it’s been nearly a quarter of a century since the first debut of the NSX. The Acura NSX has come a long way since its first debut back in 1989. It will feature the best technology of its time, which means all wheel drive, mid-mounted Twin turbo V6, hybrid electric, nine-speed dual-clutch racing machine. The body panels are made of aluminum and sheet molding compound and include a C-Pillar that drops halfway down the body to accommodate the gaping engine intake. “Our global team embraced the challenge to create a new sports car experience, leveraging new technology to deliver incredibly vivid performance in a vehicle that responds intuitively and immediately to the will of the driver,” said Ted Klaus, chief engineer and global development leader for the model. It seems that this model is the most confident when it comes to zero delay acceleration offering an exhilarating, and heart-pounding driving experience. It’s no wondering this model is priced around a staggering $150,000. That’s enough to drop anyone’s jaw; we could see it being appealed to the Nissan GT-R buyer which is the best speed bargain out there so far. However, it’s safe to say that the Acura NSX is by far more attractive in comparison with better features. Acura claims the NSX will have the lowest center of gravity of any car in its class. It’s exciting to know that the NSX will arrive in showrooms in late 2015.

Hyundai Santa Cruz Crossover Truck

Hyundai Santa Cruz Crossover Truck

Eyebrow-raising is nothing new at the Detroit Auto this year. Many spectators were indeed astonished by the new Hyundai Santa Cruz Crossover truck concept and for good reason too. This peculiar crossover truck begs the rhetorical question of “what is that?” whether you love it or pretend to hate it, it truly stood out amongst its competitors. We love the new innovative design which is targeted towards a niche based audience dubbed appropriately as the “urban adventurers”. It is designed to manoeuvre through the city streets and cramped parking spots. Despite its name and design, it isn’t intended as an alternative to the traditional pickup, and isn’t aimed towards that customer demographic. That being said, towing capabilities, payload and ground clearance weren’t considered when designing this vehicle. However under the hood it may tell a different story of how capable it is off and on road. It’s got a 2.0 liter turbo diesel powertrain generating 190 HP and 300 lb-ft (407 Nm) of torque and around 30 mpg fuel economy. The concept is designed with four doors and seating for five, the front view features an upright hexagonal grille with cascading lines framing the sides, dual lens-free, and honeycombed headlamp projectors, and LED fog lamp. It’s difficult to say whether Hyundai will take this concept and follow through, but from what we have seen it will be an interesting vehicle to see on the market as is.

Mercedes-Benz F015

Mercedes Benz F015 Concept

Mercedes has raised the bar in future vehicle development, the F015 Looks like it’s right out of a computer-generated Sci-fi movie. Mercedes concept of future driving is driver-less, fully autonomous with a pod-like exterior and interior. Although it was first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the media buzz still hasn’t died down. The goal of this car is luxury, comfort, and safety because it is said to hinder human error which causes 93% of motor vehicle accidents. The power comes from a plug-in hydrogen fuel cell with an electric arrangement consisting of two electric motors mounted at the back of the car. It is to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.7 seconds before tapping out at an electronically capped 124 mph (200km/h. The interior looks like a tiny living room with driver and passenger seat able to swivel back and forth. This concept has a self-driving feature with an integrated GPS that follows directions provided by touch screen system, has speed control, and condition detection to get you safely to your destination. It’s safe to say that the next big innovation in the vehicle industry is self-driving cars, and by the looks of it Mercedes is the leading company to do so. ”The car (F015) is growing beyond its role as a mere means of transport and will ultimately become a mobile living space”, says, head of Mercedes-Benz Dieter Zetsche. Consumers are getting very interested in the “Jetsons” like technology but for now people are not ready to accept that kind of complex advancement. But this concept is something we can look forward to in the not so distant future, it is said to hit showroom by 2030 or sooner. And if that doesn’t get you excited about the future we don’t know what will.

2015 Jeep Renegade

2015 JEEP Renegade SUV

As for something we can truly anticipate in the coming month is the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. Marketed towards the younger demographic, but not limited to. The Jeep Renegade has a sleek new design that is boxy and like a Wrangler. The black grille and trim give the renegade a bit of intimidating, yet comical character with its taillight engraved with an “X” like that of army jerry cans. It offers the standard Jeep Active Drive of a four by four system with 20:1 crawl ratio, a 0.8-inch factory lift, with 17 inch off road wheels. It gives the classic Jeep look and all the benefits of Wrangler but with better pricing and higher fuel economy, and with more safety equipment. Whether people like it or not it will be the first U.S.-market Jeep to be built abroad in Italy sharing the same platform and building plant as the Fiat 500L. It’s packed with four-cylinder turbo diesel, the base is turbocharged 1.4 liter which makes 160 HP and 184 lb of Torque which Chrysler refers to as “E.torQ,’ and available with a six-speed manual. The new Renegade promises 3% fuel economy improvement over hydraulic power steering system. Towing ability is a mere 2,000 Lb, which we anticipate wouldn’t be a problem considering the prospective demographic, it’s predicted to be seen more on college campuses rather the terrain. Buyers can choose from various colors such as, white, silver, green, and tan to more quirky named ones such as “Commando”, “Colorado Red”, and “Omaha”. The Jeep Renegade is set to hit showrooms as early as February 2015.
